SigBuddy 4.3- and 5-inch ยท firmware 4.0.0

What settings does it have?

Very few, on purpose. Out of the box the display finds your Sigenergy system by itself, so most owners never open settings. Here is everything there is, and a working copy of the touchscreen to try it on.

Try the touchscreen

Tap SETTINGS in the bottom-left corner of the screen.

Figures are an example day. Nothing here connects to a real system.

Every setting, in one place

On the 4.3- and 5-inch everything is on the screen itself. The display also serves its own page on your home network (its address is on the settings screen), which is where firmware updates happen.

Wi-fi Settings screen

Wi-fi network and signal
Shown, not set. Signal in dBm: green when strong, amber when weak.
Change wi-fi
Forgets the network and restarts into setup, where you pick a network and type its password on screen. Where your solar system is stays remembered.

Your solar system Settings screen

Found automatically
The display searches your network for the Sigenergy system and remembers it. Nothing to set.
Address, by hand
Only for a system on a different network, or when you have two systems. Type the address, Test it, then Save. Find it automatically goes back to searching.

What is at this site Settings screen

Home battery: yes or no
No battery removes the battery from the diagram.
Grid connection: yes or no
For an off-grid site. Removes the grid from the diagram.
EV charger: None, AC or DC Beta
Puts the car above the house. AC shows power and CHARGING; DC adds the car's battery level and V2X.

Firmware Display's own web page

Install the latest version
Open the display's address in a browser on the same wifi. It checks sigbuddy.com and offers newer firmware with one button. A file can also be installed by hand.
Version
Shown at the top of the settings screen.

Start again Settings screen

Factory reset
Forgets the wi-fi and where your solar system is, then restarts into setup. Asks first.
Never changed
Nothing on the display changes how your solar system runs. It only reads.

The 2.8-inch No touchscreen

Set up from a phone
It makes its own wifi called SigBuddy. Join it, and a page asks for your wifi, an optional address, and your battery, grid and charger.
Changed later
The same choices, the firmware update and the address are on its web page. Hold BOOT for 6 seconds to factory reset.

Part two

The display's own web page

Every SigBuddy serves a small page of its own on your home network. No app and no account: type the display's address into a browser on a phone or computer on the same wifi. The address is the THIS DISPLAY line on the settings screen, for example 192.168.1.76.

Which display
192.168.1.76

What's on it

Your solar system: the address the display is using and how it found it, with Test and Save for typing one by hand. EV charger: appears once a charger is chosen, with what the display is reading. Firmware: the version installed, and updates. Choices made on the touchscreen above show up here too: pick an EV charger in the simulator and this page grows the EV card.

On the 2.8-inch the page also has Site options: home battery, grid connection and car charger, as drop-downs. With no touchscreen, this page (and setup) is where those are set. Its car charger choice is one option, Sigenergy EV charger (AC or DC), because the 2.8-inch shows the car's power and charging from either kind. Switch the phone to 2.8-inch to see it.

Upgrading the firmware

  1. Open the display's page on a phone or computer that is on the same wifi and can reach the internet.
  2. The page checks sigbuddy.com. If there is a newer version it says so, with a Download and install button.
  3. Tap it and keep the page open. Your phone downloads the update, then sends it to the display.
  4. The display installs it and restarts by itself, back in about twenty seconds.
The display stays offlineYour phone fetches the update and hands it over. The display itself never talks to the internet.
Settings are keptWi-fi, your solar system's address and the site options all survive an update.
A safety netA new version has to start up and rejoin your wifi before it's kept. If it doesn't, the display goes back to the version it had.
Older displaysIf the page doesn't offer an update, it predates the button. Get in touch and we'll get it current.

Installing a file by hand

Under the button is Or install a file by hand, for a .bin file we've sent you. The display checks the file before anything changes, so a wrong or damaged file is refused and the display carries on as it was.
